Route
The Ultracycling World Championship in 2025 and 2026 will be held as part of the Race Around Austria, covering the extreme distance of 2,160 kilometers. This route follows the Austrian national borders and includes some of the country's most challenging sections and elevation gains. Participants will cross eight Austrian states, tackling both visually stunning and physically demanding segments. The route is renowned for its breathtaking panoramas and extreme challenges, making it one of the most demanding courses in ultra-cycling.
Race Mode
As with the classic Race Around Austria, the World Championship will be held in "Supported Mode," where riders are assisted by a team and a support vehicle. The rules of the Race Around Austria fully apply. This means that participants are supported around the clock by a pace car and their support crew.
The classic ranking of the Race Around Austria remains unchanged. There will also continue to be an overall ranking for men and women.
Start Times
Participants can generally choose from the following start blocks:
- Block C: Monday, 20:30
- Block B: Tuesday, 09:00
- Block A: Tuesday, 20:30
However, the race management reserves the right to assign start times to avoid overly early or late finish times. Please note that different start blocks have different cutoff times, which are specified in the regulations!
Registration and Requirements
Registration opens on February 15, 2025 for all categories. A WUCA membership is required for the World Championship ranking, which is included in the entry fee. Therefore, registration for 2025 or 2026 will automatically include WUCA membership, and no further action is required from the participants.
Award Ceremony
The World Championship award ceremony, including the presentation of the World Champion jersey and trophy, will take place as part of the overall awards ceremony on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 22:00. If participants who are ranked 1-3 in various categories have not yet reached the finish line by this time, or if the rankings are not yet finalized, the respective awards will be presented during the individual finish of the Race Around Austria.
